Mumbai News: BMC To Launch 'Chala Vachu Ya!' Summer Vacation Library From May 2 To June 12

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is to run the summer vacation library called 'Chala Vachu Ya!' for grade 6 to grade 10 students in Mumbai.

Mumbai: The Education Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to launch a special summer vacation initiative known as 'Chala Vachu Ya!'. A library program aimed at encouraging reading habits among students. The initiative will run from May 2 to June 12, 2025.

As part of this effort, libraries will be established across all 25 administrative wards of Mumbai. These temporary libraries will be accessible to students from both municipal and private schools, offering a welcoming space for reading during the summer break.

Support from NGOS

To ensure smooth operations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will be recruited to assist with the programme's management and facilitation. This initiative reflects BMC’s continued commitment to educational enrichment and community engagement, providing a productive and nurturing space for young learners during their summer break.

Timings and Facilities:

The libraries will operate in two sessions daily:

Morning: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Evening: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The programme will specifically cater to students from Grade 6 to Grade 10, and each library will offer a carefully curated selection of books, separate reading rooms, and clean sanitation facilities for boys and girls.

School ID card

Aadhaar card

Parental consent letter

BMC Announces 24-Hour Supply Disruption In 2 Wards From April 26

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 24-hour water supply cut in the N and L wards this weekend due to scheduled infrastructure work in Ghatkopar West.

The disruption will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, and continue until 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 27.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the cut-off period. The BMC has requested cooperation from the public as the work is essential for upgrading the city's water supply infrastructure.
