The BMC has initiated a special drive to streamline traffic and improve pedestrian movement on the city's busiest roads. The drive focuses on the immediate removal of unauthorised vendors, illegal constructions, and other obstructions that impede both pedestrian and vehicular flow at high-traffic locations. Civic officials are prioritising areas around railway stations to enhance accessibility, safety, and overall convenience for commuters.

The BMC's F North ward has launched a joint initiative engaging multiple departments, including Solid Waste Management, License, Encroachment Removal, Building Proposals, Health and Water Supply.

The campaign focuses on improving cleanliness in the area, removing encroachment from sidewalks, clearing unauthorised street vendors, towing abandoned vehicles, and taking action against those possessing banned plastic bags.

The campaign includes areas around key railway stations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Churchgate, Masjid, Sandhurst, Reay Road, Dockyard, Mazgaon, Byculla, and Mumbai Central. "Special focus is being given to ensuring that pedestrians can walk on the sidewalks without any hindrance, especially in high-traffic areas," said a senior civic official.

The BMC administration has assured that regular action will continue to be taken as part of this ongoing effort.
