Mumbai: On the first day of its special drive, the civic team cleared 25 tons of debris and 9.5 tons of waste materials were collected and disposed of the Western Express Highway (WEH) and Eastern Express Highways (EEH).

The operation involved the use of mechanical power sweepers, litter pickers, misting machines, dumpers, and water tankers, all of which played a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness across these busy highways.

The drive began at 10 PM on Monday night and continued until 6 AM the following day. The drive started from the EEH at Sion and the WEH at Bandra. The cleanliness of roads spanning a total distance of 16 kms on both highways was carried out. It included 8.8 kms on the EEH and 7.8 kms on the WEH.

During this drive, 25 tons of debris, 4 tons of waste, and 5.5 tons of other discarded items were collected and disposed of. The operation involved the use of 16 mechanical cleaning machines, including mechanical power sweepers, litter pickers, misting machines, dumpers, and water tankers.

The drive will continue until March 22, ensuring that traffic flow remains uninterrupted and the work is completed with minimal disruption. The clean-up efforts will target not only the roads but also footpaths, dividers, service roads, and ramps. With the support of the traffic police, temporary road diversions will be in place at night when the cleaning activities are conducted.

March 19 : Vikhroli to Mulund Check Naka and the 90-foot road from Kandivli to Dahisar Check Naka.

March 21 : 90-foot road from Ghatkopar to Vikhroli and Andheri to Kandivli.

March 22 : Vikhroli to Mulund Check Naka and the 90-foot road from Kandivli to Dahisar Check Naka.
