Mumbai: A police complaint was filed against activist Kamlakar Shenoy after he intimated the Additional Municipal Commissioner (AMC) Ashwini Joshi's office that he will protest outside her office in the BMC headquarters on March 10 seeking answers for inaction against illegal constructions, encroachments and other civic issues in the city.

Shenoy also alerted that he will be video recording the protest and answers the additional commissioner gives on delay in responses and answers.

"Today I visited office of AMC City office to intimate that if she fails to give me an appointment, which is requested more than 10 times, I shall be coming to her office to seek clarification on 25 complaints filed by me pending since years on March 10 between 3 to 5 pm," said Shenoy, who is also an RTI Activist and trustee of Petitions Group.

"However, being scared as the AMC has no answers for her failure to discharge duty and for promoting illegal activities and obstructions, encroachments on road foothpath and traffic islands she filed complaint with Azad maidan police. I am being put to harrasment and annoyance by the AMC City by not meeting citizens and allowing illegal construction, obstruction and encroachment on road footpath and traffic islands and several other issues. I am put in harrasment and annoyance that the AMC City doesn't meet the citizens," Shenoy added.

Speaking with the FPJ, AMC Joshi said, "I have not filed any police complaint against Kamlakar Shenoy. Today he said that he will protest outside my office in BMC headquarters and do video recording. If anyone gives such intimations, we have to inform the local police station. Similarly, my office has informed about his intimation to Azad Maidan police. There is no police complaint against him."

Shenoy was called in by Azad Maidan police, however, was told that he can protest and record video as it is within his rights. "I met PI Dnyaneshwar Avhad who said that the police will be present and watch from distance without obstructing my right of video recording. I have no intention to hurt anyone but fight for transparency and accountability in working of public servants," Shenoy said.
