Mumbai: The Wadala Police have registered a cheating case against a man who allegedly duped a businessman of ₹30 lakh by promising a permanent government job for his son. The accused has been identified as Sundaram Kumar Dubey (28).

According to the police, the victim and the accused were acquaintances, and Dubey assured the victim that he could secure a government job for his son. The accused will soon be summoned for questioning.

During the preliminary investigation, Wadala Police found that Dubey had used similar tactics to cheat multiple people. The victim, Pramodkumar Shivjor Gupta (47), a textile trader from Korba Mithagar, Wadala, met Dubey in July 2024, and they developed a friendly relationship.

Over time, Dubey gained Gupta’s trust and convinced him that he could get his son a government job. Believing his claims, Gupta transferred ₹30 lakh online between July and November 2024. The entire transaction took place at Gupta’s residence.

However, when the promised job offer did not materialize, Gupta started questioning Dubey. The accused kept delaying with excuses and eventually started avoiding conversations. Realizing that he had been cheated, Gupta approached Wadala Police and filed a complaint.

After verification, police registered a fraud case against Dubey. The police are now investigating whether Dubey has duped other victims using similar methods. Further investigation is underway.
