Mumbai: In a special drive aimed at curbing drunk driving and protecting public safety, the Mumbai Traffic Police registered 13 FIRs against motorists found driving under the influence. The cases were registered under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

The drive was conducted over the weekend, on April 13 and 14. During this period, the traffic police carried out checks across various parts of the city to identify and penalize offenders who were endangering not only their own lives but also the lives of others on the road.

The announcement regarding the drive was made on Monday via the X platform from the account (@MTPHereToHelp). In their statement, the Mumbai police declared: "In a Special Drive against Drunk & Drive and endangering the lives of the general public, Mumbai Traffic Police on 13th & 14th April 2025 registered 13 FIR's under Section 125 of the BNS 2023 against the following drunken drivers." They also provided the names of the individuals who were caught driving under the influence.

Seawoods Traffic Police Crack Down On 200 Auto-Rickshaw Drivers 

Following numerous complaints from residents and local leaders, the Seawoods Traffic Unit has initiated a special drive on March 3 targeting auto-rickshaw drivers who refuse passengers or flout traffic rules. In the past eight days, action has been taken against over 200 such drivers.

A seawood traffic unit said,"Several passengers had complained about reckless driving and fare refusals by some auto-rickshaw drivers. Responding to these concerns, we initiated efforts to discipline drivers through awareness programs and direct enforcement."
