Mumbai: New drive-in vaccination centre to start in Goregaon

A new drive-in vaccination centre is set to start inside the parking lot of Oberoi Mall in Goregaon East in the western suburbs.

This will take the total number of drive-in centres operational in the western suburbs to four. Earlier, drive-in vaccination centres were started in Andheri Sports Complex, followed by Growel's 101 mall and Infiniti mall.

The Oberoi mall vaccination centre will be inaugurated on Monday morning and on the first day 100 beneficiaries can get their doses over here. According to Swapnil Tembwalkar - Shiv Sena corporator and chairperson of BMC Improvements Committee (suburbs), the covishield dose will be administered to the beneficiaries.

"To be able to reach out to more people we have kept the option for 45 plus beneficiaries open for this drive in the centre," Tembwalkar told FPJ.

He also mentioned that as per the BMC guidelines - beneficiaries can walk in for their drives on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday while on the remaining days prior appointment will be required.

Tembwalkar also said that for smooth coordination, two separate entry and exit points will be maintained and the parking lot is spacious enough to accommodate more than 100 cars at a time.

"We have set up this centre by thorough planning, even if the malls reopen soon after restrictions are eased, the drive-in centre will continue to operate with all precautionary norms," he said.
