Mumbai: Pawar tests COVID 19 positive, PM calls him for early recovery

Pawar had weathered first and second COVID 19 waves but today he was detected positive. Pawar had curtailed his tours and cancelled public meetings to avoid gatherings during the third wave of COVID-19.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar was on Monday tested COVID 19 positive. Pawar in a tweet said, I have tested Covid positive but there is no cause for concern. I am following the treatment as suggested by my doctor. I request all those who have been in contact with me in the past few days to get themselves tested and take all necessary precautions.’’

Pawar had weathered first and second COVID 19 waves but today he was detected positive. Pawar had curtailed his tours and cancelled public meetings to avoid gatherings during the third wave of COVID-19.

Minutes after his tweet, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him to wish him speedy recovery. Pawar in another tweet said, ‘’ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji called to enquire about my health. I am thankful for his concern and good wishes.

Pawar since morning had held a series of meetings with the senior party leaders and also met a number of delegations including those of folk dancers and wrestlers from Maharashtra. He also held telephonic talks with a couple of party ministers relating to departmental issues and representations by various organisations.

Pawar’s associate Hemant Takle, who was with the NCP president today and on Sunday, told the Free Press Journal, ‘’ I was with the party chief for last two days. On Monday morning, I had spent over two and half hours with him to discuss various party related matters. He is absolutely doing fine and under doctor’s observation.’’

Pawar had returned to Mumbai on Saturday after paying tribute to his brother in law and a veteran leader of the Peasants & Workers Party ND Patil after death in Kolhapur and later attending party engagements in Pune,

The NCP Chief Spokesman Nawab Malik announced that the party president has cancelled all his programmes slated for next 7 days. He said after his negative report he will attend his meetings and other engagements.NCP chief Sharad Pawar tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

"I have tested Covid positive but there is no cause for concern. I am following the treatment as suggested by my doctor.
I request all those who have been in contact with me in the past few days to get themselves tested and take all necessary precautions," Pawar informed via Twitter.

Earlier in December, 13 ministers of the Maharashtra government and 70-odd legislators tested positive for Covid-19.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Eknath Gaikwad and state urban development minister Eknath Shinde were among those who were affected.
