Mumbai: In an interesting case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has complained to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against its own officer who they suspect may have engaged another person to write the aforementioned Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination on his behalf.
According to the CBI, a communication was received from Assistant Director, Vigilance, NCB, regarding forgery in recruitment of NCB by Karamjit Singh, Sub- Inspector, during his selection in SSC-CGLE-2022 Examination. It has been alleged that NCB, had received discreet information about Singh, SI, posted at NCB HQ and currently undergoing basic induction course at Central Academy for Police Training, Bhopal.
"Singh had been selected to the post of SI through the examination and as per the information provided by the NCB there is doubt that the person who has been selected through the said examination is not the same person who has joined promotional/ induction training in NCB.
In this regard, a preliminary enquiry was conducted by NCB Bhopal Zone Unit and wherein it was observed that based on the examination report there exist reason to believe that Singh, a resident of Haryana, may have engaged another person to write the examination on his behalf.
"In the month of June 2024 when Singh was undergoing the Induction training in Bhopal, a secret information was received wherein it was stated that there is doubt that the person who has been selected by the said examination is not the same person who has been actually joined the NCB. An officer from the NCB Bhopal Zonal Unit enquired into the matter and submitted its report on 24.06.2024.

"The report stated that the photograph captured during the examination and during the document verification appears conspicuously different vis-a-vis the actual appearance of the subject. There is an obvious difference between the handwriting appearing on the admit card of examination and that written by him while undergoing training at CAPT, Bhopal. Thus due to the angle of forgery as well as involvement non-government person in this case, it has been decided by the competent authority that this case shall be handed over to CBI for further investigation," the NCB stated in its complaint to the CBI.
