Mumbai: In two separate operations in Mumbai and Thane, officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested seven persons and have seized total 17.3 kilograms of charas (Hashish) along with cash Rs 4.40 lakh.
Those arrested have been identified as Kamlesh Gupta, Amit Prakash Patel, Rajvinder Singh, Gurmit Singh, Noor Mohmmad Jumman, Shabir Usman Shaikh and Nizamuddin Ahmad Taza.
Speaking about the operations, Zonal Director of the Mumbai Unit of NCB, Sameer Wankhede said, on specific information, a team of NCB on Monday intercepted Kamlesh Gupta, Amit Prakash Patel, Rajvinder Singh, Gurmit Singh and recovered two kilograms of charas (Hashish) along with cash Rs 2.20 lakh from a room of a lodge in Dadar.

"A room was booked in the lodge where the dealing of drug was going on between receiver and supplier when NCB team raided the place. On further interrogation, it comes to the notice that Rajvinder Singh and Gurmit Singh had travelled from Punjab to Mumbai on a two-wheeler and were carrying the contraband in their backpack," said Wankhede.
He added, on disclosure of Kamlesh Gupta, a team of NCB Mumbai raided the house of Noor Mohmmad Jumman at Chunabhatti, on Monday late night and recovered 3.3 kilograms of charas (Hashish) and more cash Rs 2.20 lakh. Preliminary investigation has revealed that seized Hashish has been originated from Kashmir. A case has been registered in connection with this raid."
In another operation, on specific information, a team of NCB Mumbai intercepted Shabir Usman Shaikh and Nizamuddin Ahmad Taza and recovered 12 kilograms of charas (Hashish) at Arjun Ali Toll Plaza, Padga, Bhiwandi, Thane on Tuesday. In this case too, officials said seized Hashish which had arrived from Jammu & Kashmir.
