Mumbai: MRA Marg Police Arrest Trio For Online Loan Scam Using Fake Aadhaar, PAN Cards

According to the MRA Marg Police, the Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC) received a tip-off about the suspects and apprehended them from a ship dormitory in Fort, Mumbai.

Mumbai: The MRA Marg Police have arrested three individuals who opened multiple bank accounts in Mumbai using forged documents and later used these accounts to secure online loans fraudulently, resulting in a scam worth crores of rupees.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aman Kumar Dilip Prasad (23), Rahul Kumar Sanjay Kumar Verma (30), and Umesh Kumar Sudarshan Paswan (32). Two of them hail from Jehanabad, Bihar, while the third is from Patna. Police recovered 95 fake Aadhaar cards, multiple PAN cards, as well as passbooks and debit cards from the Bank of Maharashtra. The total amount of fraud is still under investigation.

According to the MRA Marg Police, the Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC) received a tip-off about the suspects and apprehended them from a ship dormitory in Fort, Mumbai. Upon searching their bags, police found a large number of forged Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with bank passbooks and debit cards.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had used the internet to collect Aadhaar and PAN card details, altered them by pasting their own photos, and then opened multiple bank accounts in different branches of the Bank of Maharashtra. They then took online loans using these accounts and defaulted on repayments.

Further investigation has revealed that the accused had replicated this fraud in multiple states across India, opening numerous fake bank accounts and securing fraudulent loans. Police are continuing their probe to uncover the full extent of the scam and track down potential accomplices.
