Mumbai: Commuters affected by the indefinite strike called by BEST were aided by Mumbai Metro One Private Limited(MMOPL), which ran 12 additional services on the Ghatkopar-Versova-Mumbai corridor. “In the wake of today’s BEST strike and based on timely update received from BEST authorities, we are prepared to accommodate additional commuters and also running additional train trips,” said a tweet.
Every day, 440 services are run for commuters travelling from Ghatkopar to Versova, according to the MMOPL. Despite the extra services, a few commuters took to Twitter to complain about their woes. Kishan Kanjan criticised the metro for making him stand in a queue for about 25 minutes. ” No Mumbai Metro, you aren’t ready.
It took more than 20-25 minutes for me to clear the queue and reach the platform at Andheri station.” The MMOPL’s official twitter handle regretted the inconvenience caused to the complainant and asserted that the inconvenience was due to the additional crowds during the morning peak hours.
Apart from the MMOPL, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) ran 37 bus services for distressed commuters. Also, the State Transport (ST) provided 55 bus services for commuters from Kurla to Bandra and Chembur, Dadar to Mantralaya, Panvel to Dadar, Thane to Mantralaya and other routes.
