Mumbai: A teenager was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her father in Malad (E) in an inebriated state. While the teen brought this to her mother's attention, the latter tried to warn her husband. However, the man continued to do the same thing. The case was lodged on Sunday, when the teen's relatives learnt about it and asked her to approach the police. The man has been arrested by Kurar Police for raping his daughter and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.

According to police, the accused, who is employed as a helper in the entertainment industry, used to come home in an inebriated state and sexually assault his 15-year-old daughter. When the teenager confided about the incident with her mother, the latter confronted her alcoholic husband to stop his act.

Police said that the accused sexually assaulted his daughter in the month of February, March and then on May 1, when the man touched her inappropriately when the teen was sleeping with her mother. Fed up with her husband's behaviour, the woman sent the teen at a relative's place in her hometown. The woman then consulted with her family members, who asked her to report the matter to the police, following which the teen returned on Sunday and approached the police.

The accused was then booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was produced before a local magistrate court on Monday and remanded in police custody for two days.
