Mumbai: A dramatic protest unfolded near the main entrance of Mantralaya, where a man climbed an almond tree beside the post office shed, demanding an inquiry into alleged corruption in Nashik Zilla Parishad and the suspension of the Chief Executive Officer.

The incident occurred today around 3:40 PM when Sunil Tukaram Sonawane, a resident of Girna Nagar, Nandgaon, Nashik, scaled the tree to voice his demands. Despite multiple appeals from authorities, he refused to come down.

Mumbai Fire Brigade officials were called in to assist. After persistent efforts, the man was safely brought down at 4:15 PM. Following the rescue, he was taken to the Marine Drive Police Station in a mobile patrol vehicle (Mobile 01) for further inquiry. 35-minute-long dramatic standoff unfolded near the main entrance of Mantralaya, where Sunil Tukaram Sonawane climbed an almond tree.

Following his rescue, Sonawane was taken to Marine Drive Police Station for further questioning. Senior Police Inspector Nilesh Bagul confirmed the incident and stated that Non cognigiable offence have been registered against Sonawane and let him to go, Said Bagul.
