Mumbai Local Train Tragedy: Unidentified Man Dies After Being Hit By Local Train Near Koparkhairane

Following the incident, with assistance from passengers, the injured man was brought aboard the local train and transported to Koparkhairane station. From there, he was sent to NMMC Hospital in Vashi with the help of GRP personnel.

Mumbai: An unidentified man, aged approximately 28, died after being hit by a local train between Ghansoli and Koparkhairane railway stations late Tuesday night. The incident occurred at around 10:06 pm near kilometer marker 44/5-6 on the Down Line.

According to sources, RPF received an alert on their helpline at 10:10 pm, just minutes after the incident took place.

"A memo was issued by the Deputy Station Superintendent of Koparkhairane, informing both the RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) about the accident. Preliminary reports indicate that the man was crossing the railway tracks when he was struck by a local train, sustaining a severe head injury. The train’s motorman, G.S. Thorve, informed the train manager, N.K. Chaubey, that the man suddenly appeared on the tracks" said an official.

Following the incident, with assistance from passengers, the injured man was brought aboard the local train and transported to Koparkhairane station. From there, he was sent to NMMC Hospital in Vashi with the help of GRP personnel. Upon arrival at the hospital , the man was declared “brought dead” by medical staff. Dr. Rajesh Mhatre, Superintendent of Vashi NMMC Hospital, confirmed that no one had come forward to identify or claim the body at the time.

The Government Railway Police at Vashi are currently investigating the case, and further details, including official case registration, are awaited. Authorities have once again urged the public to refrain from crossing railway tracks illegally, emphasizing that such actions continue to result in tragic and preventable fatalities across the Mumbai suburban rail network.
