Mumbai: Lawyer manhandles on-duty policeman inside police station in Khar

A lawyer was arrested by Mumbai’s Khar police after he allegedly assaulted an on-duty police officer inside a police station. The lawyer, identified as Sameer Sahani, manhandled a policeman after few children who stole mangoes from his residential compound were released by police after just a warning.

The incident occurred on Saturday when few minor children stole mangoes from Sahani’s residential compound.  He caught them and brought them to police station. The police called their parents and they were released with a warning. Later, the lawyer, who was angry over releasing of the boys, came to the police station and started an argument.

Police tried to tell Sahani that the boys were not hardcore criminals and stealing mangoes is not a crime. However, Sahani got angry and manhandled Police Inspector Nandkumar Gopale. He was booked by the police and arrested. Later he was given bail.
