Mumbai top cop seeks more time to submit report on woman's charges against Sena leader Sanjay Raut, her estranged husband

Mumbai Police Commissioner on Thursday sought more time from the Bombay High Court to inquire into a 36-year-old woman's allegations of stalking and harassment by certain men at the behest of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and her estranged husband.

The high court had on June 22 directed the police commissioner to inquire and submit a report to the court on the issue by June 24.

Over 13,000 prison inmates vaccinated against COVID-19 in Maharashtra: Govt tells HC

More than 13,000 prison inmates in Maharashtra have so far been vaccinated against coronavirus and the number of active COVID-19 cases among them has reduced significantly, the state government told the Bombay High Court on Thursday.

The high court noted that there had been a "substantial improvement" in prisons of the state in the implementation of steps to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Maharashtra BJP seeks CBI probe against DyCM Ajit Pawar in cases related to Param Bir Singh, Sachin Waze

Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Thursday demanded a CBI inquiry against state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Transport Minister Anil Parab in connection with cases related to senior IPS officer Param Bir Singh and former policeman Sachin Waze.

Patil was speaking at the state party convention held here.

"The state BJP has passed a resolution to demand a CBI inquiry against DyCM Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena leader and Transport Minister Anil Parab into their alleged involvement in cases related to Param Bir Singh and Waze," Patil said.

CIDCO to allot land for science park in Navi Mumbai

The City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) will allot a plot to set up a science park at Nerul in Navi Mumbai, an official said on Thursday.

As per an official release, CIDCO has decided to subdivide the plot of Wonders Park, an amusement park, in Nerul and give the divided plot to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) for development of a science park.

Increase COVID-19 testing, vaccination: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray asks officials

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday directed the state health authorities to focus on seven districts in the state, where the COVID-19 infection count is relatively higher, and increase testing and vaccination there.

Thackeray also made it clear that there should be no hurry in relaxing the coronavirus-induced restrictions and the local administration should not take any chances considering the threat of the virus spread.

16-year-old commits suicide in Malwani

A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Malwani here on Thursday, police said.

The girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home in Rathodi locality in the afternoon, an official said.

The girl's family had been away at the time of the incident and the death came to light when her younger sister alerted the family when she did not open the door despite persistent knocking, the official said.

Unauthorized vaccination camps: Another FIR filed

Police here on Thursday registered a sixth First Information Report (FIR) in connection with an illegal vaccination camp racket at Bhoiwada in Central Mumbai, an official said.

The racket came to light when the members of a housing complex in suburban Kandivali suspected that something was wrong with the COVID-19 inoculation camp organized in May at their society by some persons who claimed to represent a reputed private hospital.
