Mumbai: The Kalachowki Police have registered an FIR against two women for allegedly submitting fake birth certificates to obtain a passport. The fraud came to light after passport officials grew suspicious about the authenticity of the documents during verification. The suspicion was later confirmed through an official letter from Uttar Pradesh authorities, stating that the submitted certificates were fraudulent.

According to the police, the complaint names Najma Bano Ubed Siddiqui and Reema Gupta, who had applied online for a passport for Reema’s son, Alok Gupta. The passport verification process was initiated at the Kalachowki Police Station, where the documents were initially cleared and forwarded to the Special Branch (SB) Office for further scrutiny.

The SB Office requested verification of the submitted birth certificates and instructed the Kalachowki Police to authenticate them. Following standard protocol, the police sent an official letter to the relevant birth registration authority in Uttar Pradesh. In response, the authority clarified that no such birth records existed in their database, confirming the documents were forged.

Based on the findings, the Kalachowki Police registered an FIR against Najma Bano and Reema Gupta under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
