China and India are sure to grow stronger, stated Tang Guocai, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Mumbai. He was speaking at the online event celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 71st China-India diplomatic ties.
During the address, he stressed on three key prospects in the India-China relationship: deepen mutual understanding by learning from history, pursue joint development and common prosperity; and strengthen people-to-people ties.
On mutual understanding, Tang said, “China and India are sure to grow stronger. However, our inherent strength shall neither pose a threat to the West, nor to each other of us.”
“Let us further open up our mind, use the mindset of China and India, instead of China or India, to unleash the greatest potential for common development for our people,” he added.
Commenting on the economic activities of both countries, Tang said, “The trade volume between China and India has reached USD 100 billion and India’s export to China is rising fast. China is the biggest and irreplaceable trading partner for India.”
He also added that jointly both countries can navigate marine culture, enrich the marine economy and enhance mutual understanding and trust.
There was a special address by Rajiv Podar, President of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well. He said that it is the right time for Chinese companies to come to India and start their manufacturing facilities in the country. He further added, “Many Chinese companies are producing in India and have successfully established their brand in India...”
Podar stated, “India’s bilateral trade with China in the first half of FY 2021 rose by record 62.7 per cent to touch USD 57.48 billion. This is the highest-ever increase among China’s trade partners.” This proves bilateral relations between both countries has been strong even in challenging times, stated Podar.
Tang also said India and China are highly complementary in the economic field, especially in manufacturing, new energy and digital economy. “Our business leaders know well that peace and harmony are conducive to wealth and growth,” he stated.
Zhang Baojuan, Chairperson of the World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization (WCCO) and G H Fernandes, President of the India-China Friendship Association also delivered an address during the session.
The event was jointly organised by the Chinese Consulate in Mumbai, the India-China Friendship Association (ICFA) and World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization (WCCO) in Yangzhou.
