Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Police have registered a case against a cab driver after a disturbing video went viral, showing a young man being dragged on the bonnet of a speeding car for several kilometres on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway. The shocking incident took place early Wednesday near Vile Parle.
According to reports, the incident started after an argument between the cab driver and the man. It is alleged that the driver punched the man and attempted to flee the scene. In a desperate attempt to stop the cab, the man jumped onto the bonnet. However, the driver did not stop and kept driving at high speed, endangering the man’s life and that of others on the road.

The viral video shows the man holding tightly to the bonnet of a white Ertiga car, pleading with the driver to stop. The driver, however, continued to drive recklessly, ignoring the man’s cries and causing panic among bystanders.
Following public outrage and the circulation of the video online, the Mumbai Traffic Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the Airport Police Station. The accused has been identified as Bhimprasad Gyani Mahto, 24, a resident of Vartak Nagar, Thane. He has been booked under Sections 281, 125, 126(2), 115(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. A notice under Section 35(3) of BNSS has also been issued.
