The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai as heavy rain lashes several parts of the city. Train and bus services were badly affected across the city. Water-logging has also been witnessed in several low-lying areas due to the first heavy downpour of the season.
Several parts, including Andheri, Dadar, Kurla, Chembur, Sion, Bandra and others witnessed heavy rain.
Earlier, an official from the weather department has also issued a yellow alert as heavy rains were predicted at several places on July 1 and 2. Road traffic also slowed down and even stopped as roads were waterlogged in areas like Parel, Hindmata, Bandra, among others.
In the last 24 hours IMD's Santacruz observatory recorded 41mm rainfall, while Colaba observatory recorded 33mm rainfall.
Apart from Mumbai, intense spells of showers are predicted in Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and isolated places.
Besides, due to this rains, several mishaps have taken place in the city. Amid rainfall, high tide has hit Marine Drive. Meanwhile, waterlogging has also taken place in Mumbai and its neighbouring cities.
