Mumbai: A fire erupted at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office located in Nariman Point, South Mumbai, on Sunday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the bustling commercial district. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around 4:35 pm local time.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade swiftly responded to an emergency call, mobilizing firefighting teams to the scene opposite the LIC head office on Jeevan Bima Marg. Within moments of their arrival, the blaze was brought under control, extinguished by 4:44 pm, according to civic officials.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, initial reports suggest it may have originated from electrical wiring. The fire's rapid containment prevented any major damage to the premises. Despite approximately 100 individuals being present in the office at the time, all were safely evacuated.

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, also the Colaba MLA, arrived promptly at the scene, offering reassurance amid the chaotic situation. "Around 100 people were working in the office when the incident took place. All rushed out to safety. The fire teams reached immediately, and the fire was doused," Narwekar affirmed.

Prasad Lad, BJP MLA, emphasized the collaborative efforts of the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, and BMC officials in swiftly bringing the situation under control. "No major damage was seen due to fire. Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, BMC officials took efforts to take control over the fire within 10 minutes," Lad stated.

He further assured that no vital documents or papers were lost in the incident, with the office set to resume operations promptly. "Within 24 days, its report will be given by MFB, which will help us understand the reason behind the fire. The party office will be open Monday onwards," Lad confirmed.
