On Monday, a yoga teacher was arrested for allegedly stalking and molesting a 35-year-old a former student in Mumbai.
According to the Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Raju Ghosh. The woman had been practicing yoga with the accused since 2016 when she was first affected by severe back pain. She got better after some time but the pain resurfaced last year. The woman underwent few tests and doctors informed her that she had a hernia that needed to be operated upon. But the accused insisted the woman that she continues to practice yoga and assured her that yoga would solve the issue.
Later after some time the accused started taking an interest in her personal life and urged her to leave her husband and live with him, reported the Indian Express. The woman then decided to discontinue the classes and she joined another class. On March 11, the accused accosted her outside her new yoga class and tried to speak to her. He was very angry as she had left his classes and joined another class. After some time, he started abusing and threatening her. When the woman tried to leave from the spot, he allegedly followed and touched her inappropriately. Later the woman filed a complaint with the police and the cops arrested the accused under sections 354 (assault), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354d (punishment upon first conviction) of the Indian Penal Code.
