Mumbai: The Vanrai Police have arrested a scam artist who deceived a Force One policeman by enticing him with the promise of purchasing inexpensive TVs and AC units directly from a company and then absconded with the money. The main culprit, identified as Javed Faimuddin Malik, operated alongside his accomplices Hamza Malik and Amir Malik, both of whom are currently being pursued by the police. The incident took place around May 2022.
In March 2022, the policeman encountered Hamza, who duped him by offering purportedly cheap branded products like TVs, washing machines, and AC units directly from the company. The officer shared this information with his colleagues in Force One and the State Reserve Force. Subsequently, he arranged a meeting with Hamza's associate, Aamir, near the Force One office in Goregaon. The victimized officer had given Aamir Rs 80,000 in advance for the TV and AC.
During their interaction, both of the accomplices assured the officer that the TV and AC would be delivered to his residence within two days but failed to fulfill their promise. Despite repeated pleas, all three evaded the officer's inquiries. In response, the trio informed the officer that they had no intention of delivering the TV and AC or returning the money.
Frustrated by the deceit, the officer filed a complaint with the Vanrai Police. After conducting an investigation, the police filed a case against Hamza Malik, Aamir Malik, and Javed Malik. The authorities were actively pursuing all three suspects. While the search operation was underway, Javed Malik managed to escape but was captured by the police two days ago. Currently, he is in police custody, undergoing interrogation.
