Mumbai: A theft occurred at Mumbai International Airport involving one of the three Samsung Galaxy A9 tablets that had been placed by an advertising company for marketing purposes. The company had displayed two of its cars on Level 3 of the airport and had provided tablets to share information about the vehicles.

One of the tablets, worth Rs 20,000, was stolen on April 1. The incident was captured on CCTV; however, the identity of the accused has not yet been determined. Sahar Police registered a case of theft against an unidentified individual on April 8.

According to the FIR, the complainant, Virender Kaushik, 52, a resident of Mira Road, operates MPM Services Private Limited, a company involved in advertising and event management. His company is a partner of Times Innovative Media Limited.

Through this partnership, Kaushik’s company had arranged the display of Toyota's Hyryder and Taisor models at Level 3 of the Mumbai International Airport, in the security-hold area. The cars were displayed for marketing purposes, and three promoters were deployed at the site.

In addition, three Samsung Galaxy A9 tablets were placed near the cars to provide vehicle information. These tablets were accessible to customers, who could tap and read the details themselves.

On April 1, at around 1:30 p.m., the staff noticed that one of the tablets was missing. They searched the surrounding area but could not locate it. The matter was then reported to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and later to the Sahar Police Station.

CCTV footage revealed that a man, believed to be around 25 years old, wearing a grey hoodie and a cap, arrived at the display area in an airport buggy. He was seen concealing the tablet inside his hoodie before heading to the washroom. When he came out, he had changed into a black T-shirt and was later seen going through Gate No. 65A.

Mr. Kaushik filed a complaint at the Sahar Police Station, and the police registered a case under Section 303(2) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unidentified individual.
