Mumbai: The Oshiwara police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing and killing his colleague following a petty argument during iftar on Sunday evening. Police are searching for suspects who may have aided 22-year-old Jaffer Khan.

About The Case

According to the FIR, both the deceased and the accused worked at the same garment shop in Oshiwara, Andheri (West) as salesmen. The altercation reportedly began over the distribution of fruits during iftar. Around 6 pm, after evening prayers, Khan retaliated when Kaif Shaikh slapped him during an argument about cutting fruits. Shaikh later succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss, damage to internal organs, and delayed medical treatment after being turned away by two hospitals.

Shaikh’s employer, 30-year-old Shanu Khan, stated in the complaint that Khan had left the shop crying after the altercation. At approximately 720pm, Shaikh came running back, collapsed in front of the shop, and was found bleeding from a stomach wound. Shop staff and Shaikh’s employer rushed him in an auto-rickshaw to a hospital in Millat Nagar. However, doctors referred him to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari (East), citing insufficient medical facilities.

The Trauma Care Hospital also refused admission, directing them to Cooper Hospital, where doctors declared Shaikh dead upon arrival, attributing his death to blood loss and treatment delays. In a statement, Shaikh had identified Khan as his attacker, alleging that Khan and his friends ambushed him after prayers. Police are still searching for the weapon used in the crime.
