Mumbai: In a shocking crime of passion, a 36-year-old man was brutally murdered in the Bengali Pura area of Antop Hill, allegedly by his wife and her lover. The deceased has been identified as Ismail Ali Jamal Ali Shaikh (36). Antop Hill police have arrested his wife, Sumaya Shaikh (26), and her paramour, Jabbar Shaikh, for the crime.

According to police officials, Ismail had discovered the extramarital affair between his wife and Jabbar, leading to a heated argument between the couple on Monday night. Around 3 a.m., in the heat of the altercation, Sumaya called Jabbar to their home. In a calculated move, she reportedly held her husband’s legs while Jabbar used a sharp weapon to stab Ismail multiple times in the neck. Sumaya then used a kitchen knife to stab him further, police said.

After the murder, Sumaya dragged her husband’s blood-soaked body outside the house and attempted to mislead the police by claiming that someone else had killed him. However, during questioning, her statements raised suspicions, and she was taken into custody for further investigation. Jabbar, a goldsmith by profession, had fled the scene after the crime but was later tracked down and arrested.

The murder weapon — a knife used by Jabbar — has been recovered. A forensic team has examined the crime scene for evidence collection. An FIR has been registered at Antop Hill Police Station, and both accused are in police custody. Further investigation is underway.
