Mumbai: A 37-year-old man has been booked for allegedly repeatedly raping a married woman for nearly three years by blackmailing her using her obscene video, which he had shot discreetly.

He even extorted Rs1.5 lakh and eight tolas of gold, said the police, adding that he is on the run. According to the Kurar police, the complainant is married and resides in the Pathanwadi area of Malad. In 2022, while she was taking a bath, Akbar Ganchi allegedly recorded a video of her using a hidden camera.

Threatening to make the video viral, Akbar allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and recorded that encounter as well. He later threatened to show this video to her husband and extorted cash and gold. Between 2022 and June 2025, the accused allegedly repeatedly raped her. A case was filed on June 28, said the police.
