Mumbai: The Juhu police on Friday booked two sisters, including a 17-year-old, for allegedly trying to kill their neighbours following a fight over feeding stray dogs. Notably, three assault cases have been filed against the duo by other neighbours over similar disputes.
In the latest incident, which took place on Thursday, the accused, Simran Pandey, 22, and Nitu, allegedly hit Amrit Nikam and his wife Asha with a paver block.
In the attack, which has been captured on CCTV camera, the couple sustained serious injuries, with the woman requiring 12 stitches. Asha is currently undergoing treatment at Cooper Hospital. Previously, Nikam had filed a police complaint against them over the same issue.
According to the FIR, the accused duo and the couple reside in the God Gift building in Juhu. According to Nikam, 48, a plumber, he fed stray dogs near the water tank, which irked the sisters. Subsequently, they picked up a fight and abused him before hitting him with a paver block on Thursday, said the FIR. When Asha intervened, the duo brutally thrashed her too, it added.
Based on Nikam's complaint, the police booked the sisters for attempt to murder and assault. However, the victim alleged that the FIR does not name their elder sister, Dimple Pandey. She supports the duo's aggressive behaviour, said a police source.
