Mumbai: Deonar Police have successfully arrested three most-wanted thieves involved in a series of housebreaks across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane.
The accused – Sanjay Ratnesh Kamble alias Abdul Latif Sheikh alias Salim Kubdya from Mumbra, Shakir Abdul Rahim Sheikh from Mankhurd, and Nilesh Raju Londhe from Chunabhatti – were taken into custody after a detailed investigation.
According to Deonar Police, over 30 criminal cases are registered against the trio, and multiple police departments were actively looking for them. The police also recovered ₹9.30 lakh worth of stolen property from their possession.
DCP of Zone 6, Navnath Dhawale, confirmed that further investigation is underway, and more cases could be linked to the arrested accused. “So far, 30 cases have been identified. That number is likely to increase as we dig deeper into their criminal history,” said the DCP.
The investigation began after a resident lodged a complaint on April 5, 2025, reporting that unidentified individuals broke into his home and stole gold jewellery and ₹5.5 lakh in cash, with total losses amounting to ₹8.75 lakh.
Following the FIR under sections 305(A), 331(4), 3(5), and 112 of BNS, a team led by API Kailas Sonawane utilized technical surveillance and inputs from informants to track the accused. All three were arrested from different locations and are suspected to be behind a series of similar crimes. Further interrogation and case linkages are ongoing.
On April 5, 2025, a complainant reported a housebreak-in at his residence, where unidentified persons had allegedly tampered with the latch and lock of the main door to gain entry. They looted gold ornaments and cash from a cupboard, amounting to a total loss of ₹8.75 lakh.
