Mumbai: Hemant Krishna Kapse, a police constable based with Sewri police station of Mumbai police was suspended for allegedly celebrating his birthday with people having criminal record. According to an inquiry initiated against him, he was found misusing and misconducting being a government servant and was later suspended.

According to sources from the Mumbai police he was suspended on July 3, 2021 after an order issued by Ganesh Shinde, Deputy commissioner of police, Port division.

The police during an inquiry found Kapse was in regular touch with people having criminal records including Suresh Harijan, Rajesh Sudhakar Rao and Sanjay Vitthal Lahane. "Being friends with them, Kapse called the trio for his birthday and celebrated along with those criminals. Being a police constable he should have avoided such friendship and celebration. Also, he allegedly clicked pictures with these criminals at a blood donation camp and circulated it on social networking sites", said an officer from Mumbai police.

FPJ also has the circular release by Mumbai police which explains he was given a service pistol while posted on the combat vehicle. "Holding the pistol in hands, he clicked a picture in his private car. He kept the picture with a pistol in his hand as WhatsApp display picture. The act or publicity done by Kapse is serious. Also, it creates a negative identity of the police force in the minds of the general public", claims the circular issued by the police.

During a primary departmental inquiry, the misconduct by Kapse was found to be true and action was taken against him under sections of the Maharashtra Civil services (conduct) Act, 1979.
