Mumbai: Class 11 Girl Student Dies By Suicide At Oberoi International School In Goregaon; Probe Underway

In a shocking incident, a 11th-grade female student allegedly died by suicide at the high-end Oberoi International School in Goregaon East on Thursday around 9:30 a.m. The police stated that the reason behind the suicide is uncertain, and they are investigating the matter. Sources said the student was undergoing medical treatment.

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 11th-grade female student allegedly died by suicide at the high-end Oberoi International School in Goregaon East on Thursday around 9:30 a.m. The girl has committed suicide by hanging herself with shoelaces in the bathroom of Oberoi International School.

According to the police, the student hung herself in the toilet, and the process of filing an ADR (Accidental Death Report) is underway. The police stated that the reason behind the suicide is uncertain, and they are investigating the matter. Sources said the student was undergoing medical treatment.

The police also mentioned that no complaint has been filed by either the parents or the school. However, they are continuing their investigation into the incident all the same.

The school released a statement from its head Patrick Hurworth saying, "It is with deep sadness that I share the news that one of our students from Grade 11 passed away this morning. I am not able to share further details, and I ask for your understanding and respect for the privacy of the family as they deal with this tragedy. During this time, let us come together as a community, offering kindness and support in quiet and meaningful ways. This loss is sure to raise many emotions."

Further added, "I will follow up with another communication as soon as possible, sharing resources with you so that you are able to support your daughters and sons at home." The school has also promised to start counselling facility in the campus from tomorrow. It has also sent a detailed advisory to parents as to how to handle their children's emotions.
