The central railway registered the best-ever First Quarter Freight Loading of 21.62 million tonnes in 2022-23, an increase of 16.61% over the Previous best-ever First Quarter 2021-22. Confirming the development, the senior officer of CR said, "Central Railway continuing its best-ever performance in freight loading has registered a freight loading of 7.19 million tonnes in the month of June 2022 which is the best ever loading in June of any year. The freight loading during the month shows an increase of 20.44% as compared to freight loading of 5.97 million tonnes registered in June 2021 which was the previous best ever in June any year".
Apart from that automobile transportation increased by more than a hundred percent in the month of June on Central Railway. CR loaded 68 rakes of automobiles in June 2022 as compared to 33 rakes in June 2021 showing an increase of 106 %.
"Railway logistics offers a significant potential in lowering the carbon footprint," said an official of CR adding that automobile transportation through railways is more economical, especially over long distances. Apart from savings on logistics costs, automakers have sustainability targets, which can be met better through the use of railways for vehicle transport.
According to Central Railway, the zone’s BDUs reached out to various industries during the past year. One-to-one meetings were conducted with major automobile industries such as M/s Mahindra & Mahindra, M/s Tata Motors M/s Maruti Udyog for transportation of vehicles from their factories to consumption centres.
During the first quarter of the current financial year i.e., from April to June 2022 Central Railway registered a freight loading of 21.62 million tonnes as against 18.54 million tonnes registered from April to June 2021 showing an increase of 16.61%. The freight loading during the first quarter of the current financial year is the Best Ever freight loading in the first quarter of any financial year.
The various taken by Central Railway resulted in loading of 30 rakes of Imported Coal from Dharamtar port siding of Mumbai Division during June 2022.
Nagpur Division loaded 901 rakes of coal in June 2022 as against 754 rakes loaded in June 2021 registering a 19.50 % increase. Nagpur Division has also loaded 64 rakes of Iron Ore from Ballarshah during the Month of June 2022.
Central Railway also loaded 68 rakes of automobiles in June 2022 as compared to 33 rakes in June 2021 showing an increase of 106 %. It loaded 25 rakes of food grains in June 2022 as against 12 rakes in June 2021 showing an increase of 108 %. Also 101 rakes of sugar-loaded in June 2022 as against 74 rakes in June 2021. Central Railway also loaded new commodities like 3 rakes of Gypsum and 5 rakes of Fly Ash in June 2022.
