Mumbai: A team of the BMC's H West ward visited MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana's flat in Khar on Wednesday. However, it soon returned empty-handed since the flat was locked. The BMC will inform the Rana couple and will again visit their flat for inspection on Thursday, said Assistant municipal commissioner, H West ward, Vinayak Vispute.
The civic body had issued a notice to the society and occupiers of the eighth floor of the Lavie building where the Ranas own a flat. The notice was served under section 488 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, over a complaint of illegal construction.
As per the Act, the BMC officials can enter any premises for inspection, survey, or execution of necessary work. According to the notice, BMC's team of officials from the building proposal department visited the building at 12.15 pm on Wednesday.
“We will inform Ranas about our tomorrow's visit. If we find the premises locked again, we will decide the further line of action," said Vispute.
The Rana couple was arrested by the Mumbai police on April 23, over the Hanuman Chalisa row. A court allowed their bail plea on Wednesday.
