The BMC has launched a special initiative to raise awareness about rabies vaccination and prevention among citizens. As part of this campaign, an LED vehicle equipped with awareness-raising videos has been created. This vehicle will travel across the city, delivering crucial information to the citizens about rabies and preventive measures.

Dr. Kalimpasha Pathan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Animal Health Department, said, "The BMC is committed to the health and welfare of the citizens of Mumbai. Public awareness plays a crucial role in achieving this goal," he stated. In collaboration with the 'Mission Rabies' organisation, BMC launched a mass vaccination drive for stray dogs in Mumbai starting from September 28, 2024. This campaign aims to vaccinate thousands of stray dogs and is set to continue until March 2025. With the assistance of animal welfare organisations appointed by the BMC, over 25,000 stray dogs have already been vaccinated as part of this important initiative.

As part of this campaign the BMC has also introduced an LED screen-based vehicle to create awareness among the citizens. This vehicle will broadcast informative messages to educate the public on key issues such as the dangers of rabies, the importance of vaccination, responsible pet ownership, and promoting animal welfare. The vehicle will also encourage citizen participation in measures to prevent and control rabies. Through this initiative, BMC aims to engage residents in various administrative wards, with a particular focus on high-risk and densely populated areas, said Pathan.
