Mumbai: Vande Bharat Sleeper train between Mumbai and Bengaluru is expected to be launched on November 1, 2026, according to a post on the BJP’s official social media handle. However, railway officials have not confirmed the announcement, leaving passengers awaiting clarity on the proposed service.

Diwali Gift For Passengers

The BJP’s post described the train as a Diwali gift for passengers and said it would offer a new overnight travel option between two major economic centres. The announcement has raised expectations among passengers travelling frequently between Maharashtra and Karnataka, particularly those seeking a more comfortable alternative for the long-distance journey.

According to railway sources, only one rake may initially be available for the inaugural special run, instead of the two rakes generally required to operate a regular service in both directions. The single rake is expected to travel from Bengaluru towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. However, this information has not been officially confirmed by the Railways.

The proposed service could offer passengers an upgraded overnight travel experience, with sleeper accommodation designed for long-distance journeys. Mumbai and Bengaluru are important business, technology and commercial hubs, and the route caters to passengers travelling for work, education and other purposes.

However, several key details remain unclear. The Railways has not announced the confirmed launch date, regular operating schedule, route, stoppages or ticket fares. It is also not clear when regular services in both directions will begin.

With the November 1 date now circulating on social media, passengers will have to wait for an official railway notification before making travel plans. The announcement has generated interest, but the actual commencement of the service remains subject to confirmation by the railway authorities.
