An alert railway official of Central Railway saved the life of a person lying on track between Tilak Nagar - Chembur stations on Friday.
The incident took place between Tilak Nagar and Chembur railway stations on May 29 when motorman P.K Ratnakar who was on duty for operating Panvel local noticed a man lying on the railway track of the same train. The speed of the train was relatively slow due to which Ratnakar after noticing the man applied emergency breaks immediately. The train stopped nearly 10 to 12 meters away from the person lying on the track.
The motorman got off the train and was helped by the passangers also to take the person to a safe place.
Ratnakar's quick thinking averted untoward mishap. The guard of the train was told to inform about the incident to the control Room. Mr Ratnakar shall be awarded suitbaly for saving life of a person and avoiding accident.
Meanwhile, an alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saved a man from being crushed under a running train at Borivali railway station on Friday.
The incident took place when the man was trying to board the Dadar-Bhuj special train. While boarding the train he lost balance while trying to get inside the compartment as the train gained momentum.
After seeing the man fall, an alert on duty constable, Pawan, pulled the man out before he slipped between the train and the platform. The video of the incident was shared by the Western Railway.
