The Vakola police have recorded the statements of the four suspended cops accused of planting drugs on the employee of a livestock farm in Kalina. The case brought much infamy to the police as the act was captured on the CCTV and the footage got viral.

Three months after the incident, the police finally registered a case on December 19.

Prakash Khandekar, senior inspector at the Vakola police station, said, “We issued them notices and all the accused appeared at the police station. We recorded their statements.” The police confirmed that the accused have not approached the court for anticipatory bail. However, the officials did not disclose much details regarding the statements given by the quartet.

The victim, Dylan Estbeiro, 30, and his advocate, Akshay Bhole, said they were unaware that the statements of the accused have been recorded. “The police have not included the names of the main culprits and didn't even invoke appropriate charges. We will move the Bombay High Court.” Estbeiro has provided the names of all the accused to the police, yet they did not take action against them, alleged Bhole. “Why weren’t charges of conspiracy under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and other strong sections, which ought to have been applied, not invoked,” asked Bhole.

On August 30, police sub-inspector Vishwanath Omble and three constables Imran Shaikh, Sagar Kamble and Shinde from the Khar police station visited Shahbaz Khan's livestock farm in Kalina. Not in uniform, they started frisking Estbeiro and apparently placed 20 grams of mephedrone in his pocket.
