Mumbai: 90,000 beneficiaries vaccinated for COVID-19 in city on June 14

More than 90,000 beneficiaries were inoculated on Monday across Mumbai. According to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, 93,997 beneficiaries were vaccinated at 370 COVID-19 vaccine centres, of which 68,692 were between 18 and 44 years of age and 228 were lactating mothers.

Moreover, so far, 846 were administered Sputnik V vaccine at private centres as part of its pilot project. 41.11 lakh have been vaccinated since the mass immunization drive began in the city. Of the total, 32.87 lakh have taken their first dose, while 8.24 lakh have taken both the doses.

Suresh Kakani, additional municipal commissioner, said they have planned to increase the COVID-19 vaccination centres in the next three to four days. Currently, there are 370 centres, which will be increased to 500 in the coming days. “We have around 1 lakh vaccine doses and soon we are expecting more to come. Moreover, the adult population is keen on taking the vaccine as most of them are going abroad for studies,” he said.
