Mumbai: An elderly man was attacked with an iron crowbar by his neighbour following a dispute over the installation of an electric meter in the Dahisar area. Shirish Shankar Pathare, a 65-year-old resident, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at Tarun Hospital.
The MHB police have arrested the 62-year-old accused, Chandresh Jog, on charges of attempted murder and issuing death threats. He is currently in police custody.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, around 4:00 PM, at Santoshi Mata Road, Patharewadi, Shivam Sadan, in Dahisar. Shirish Pathare and Chandresh Jog are neighbours who live in the same Shivam Sadan building and are well acquainted with each other.
The dispute arose when Shirish began installing an electric meter at his residence, which Chandresh opposed. This disagreement had led to tensions between them for several days.
On Saturday afternoon, around 3:00 PM, their argument escalated into a heated altercation. In a fit of rage, Chandresh attacked Shirish with a crowbar and also issued death threats. Shirish suffered a head injury in the assault and was immediately rushed to the nearby Tarun Hospital for treatment. He is currently stable and recovering.
