Mumbai: Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar on Wednesday announced the names of the three corporators, two from the BJP, Kesariben Patel from Chakala and Murji Patel from Prabhat Colony and Congress corporator Rajpati Yadav from Kandivali (W), who have been disqualified as corporators. A letter has already been sent to the individual corporators.

In the civic general body meeting held on Wednesday, Mahadeshwar disqualified them from the post. The reason to disqualify them was for producing bogus caste certificate during the corporation election held in 2017.

Shiv Sena’s Sandip Naik may replace BJP’s Murji Patel in Prabhat Colony and Shankar Handare will replace the Congress’ Yadav in Kandivali (W) and Nitin Salagre will replace BJP’s Kesarben Patel. Notably, the Bombay Hc had ordered disqualification over their failure to prove caste claims belonging to the OBC in 2017. The three corporators were asked to provide caste certificates with in 12 months of their election.
