The bodies of all three youth who drowned at Juhu beach on Tuesday have been recovered. According to fire officials, the youth were warned about the high tide and its consequences before they entered the water.

Regarding the incident, Mumbai Fire Brigade chief, Hemant Parab, said, “There were clear sign boards at the beach and the youth were instructed by the lifeguards 2-3 times to not enter the water due to high tide but they did not listen. When they were stopped from one side they went from the other side into the water.”

"Even an orange warning regarding high tide was declared. People should be mindful of such important warnings as it is for their own safety. They should not venture into the water even after it is strictly prohibited. Sometimes people are so arrogant that it becomes very difficult for the lifeguards as well,” added the official. Frequently lifeguards have been seen complaining about citizens who ignore their warnings and enter the water even during high tides. On average there are 10 lifeguards deployed per beach at the nine tourist beaches of Mumbai. They work in two shifts of 5 each per shift. One of the lifeguards present at the beach during the incident was Manohar Shetty, who gave the details of the incident and alerted the fire brigade.

After the search operation, one body was found at Juhu and the other two at Versova.

Both the police stations of Versova and Juhu have registered Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the drowning case.

Senior police inspector of Versova police station, Siraaj Inamdaar, said, “Two bodies have been recovered from Versova. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem at Cooper hospital and a case of ADR has been registered.”

Similarly, the senior police inspector of Juhu police station, Ajitkumar Vartak, said that one body was recovered from Juhu and ADR has been registered.

Dean of Cooper Hospital, Dr Shailesh Mohite, said, “All three bodies were brought dead, two on Tuesday and one on Wednesday morning around 11 am. After declaring them dead, they were sent for post-mortem.”
