Mumbai: A 22-year-old man, Mohammad Talib Mohammad Islam, was caught by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for traveling in a coach reserved for persons with disabilities on a Dadar-Dahanu local train on Sunday. However after registration of case under relevant sections of Indian Railway Act, accused released on notice . Further investigation is on.
According to sources, the incident took place at Vasai railway station, where the RPF team noticed Islam traveling in the designated coach and asked him to vacate it.
When the RPF personnel requested him to leave, Islam not only refused but also physically resisted, leading to a scuffle. During the altercation, he reportedly grabbed the leg of one RPF officer and bit another on the hand.
According to an official, letter Islam was charged under several sections of the Railways Act, including Section 155 (entering a reserved compartment), Section 145(b) (creating a nuisance), and Section 146 (obstructing a railway employee in performing their duty). These offenses carry penalties of imprisonment, fines, or both.
Sources Said that, sub-Inspector Girish Shukla, along with his team, reached the scene after reports of a commotion. Despite initial resistance, Islam was escorted to the RPF office with the help of MSF personnel. He was later released on notice after questioning, and a case was registered under Vasai Road Crime No. 295/2025.
