Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) possesses a land bank of 3,360 acres across the state, which the government plans to develop into modern depots under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Speaking as the chief guest at a conclave organized by NAREDCO GenNext on Tuesday, Sarnaik called upon developers to collaborate on transforming these sites into state-of-the-art transport hubs. The government is considering leasing the land for 99 years and remains positive about the initiative.

The proposed depots will be developed at the district, taluka, and village levels, with the planning and design led by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor.

The project will follow the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR), with 90% of the land falling under its jurisdiction. Notably, MSRTC will serve as the planning authority for the developments.

The conclave was attended by NAREDCO Chairman Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Vice Chairman Rajan Bandelkar, and other key industry stakeholders, signaling strong support from the real estate sector for the government's vision.
