Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that it is expecting rainfall for this year in Maharashtra to start in the next five days.
IMD has predicted that in the next five days, monsoon is likely to hit in places like Konkan, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada, where light to moderate showers are likely.
They further predicted that the monsoon will hit Kerala in the 48 hours.
On Monday, the city reported pre-monsoon showers in the outskirts. The city also witnessed cloudy skies throughout the day with isolated showers in a few areas.
“Only after the monsoon hits Kerala in the next 48 hours, will we be able to predict its arrival in Karnataka, Goa, Konkan and Mumbai. This is the ideal pattern of arrival of the monsoon in Mumbai and Maharashtra region,” said K S Hosalikar, Deputy Director General IMD.
“Once the monsoon hits Kerala, only then monsoon prediction can be given for areas like Goa and Konkan,” added Hosalikar.
On Monday, the maximum temperature for Santacruz was reported at 35 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature reported was 29 degree Celsius.
