Mumbai: Photographs of high scorers in board examinations flashing the victory sign and stories of those agonising over losing half-a-mark are par for the course. But here is a story of the student who scored a perfect pass -- Akshit Jadhav scored 35 marks in every subject in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examinations and he is ‘super happy’ about it. Akshit is relieved to have cleared the exams in his first attempt. Has he considered revaluation of his perfect score card?
The prospect is scary. Fail ho gaya toh? (What if I fail?)," he asks, nervously. "I had not expected to pass, so I am happy that 35 is my lucky number and I have cleared these exams," he says, with an air of finality. It was mostly fun and games for Akshit, a student of Shanti Nagar High School, as he cruised through tenth grade. He had no appetite for last-minute cramming.
"I am still shocked at having got 35 marks in English, Marathi, Hindi, Mathematics, Science & Technology and Social Sciences. I did not even think I would pass. These marks mean a lot to me," he says. Akshit's father Ganesh too has no complaints. Ganesh is just happy his son has cleared the examination in the first attempt. I enrolled Akshit in a tuition class in our neighbourhood, as I wanted him to pass in the first attempt. I cannot afford to pay the tuition fees again, so his clearing the exams is more important than the marks he has got. However, he does have bigger dreams. He now wants to appear for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination.
