Mira-Bhayandar: In a move to boost transparency and enhance law enforcement efficiency, the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate has rolled out body-worn cameras for its traffic police personnel. This initiative is part of the Maharashtra State Chief Minister’s ambitious 100-day action plan, aimed at integrating advanced technology into policing.
On April 15, 2025, Police Commissioner Madhukar Pandey (IPS) distributed the first batch of 20 body-worn cameras to traffic police officers and personnel. In total, 200 such devices are slated for deployment across the Commissionerate.

These body-worn cameras, also known as Body-Worn Video (BWV) devices, are compact, wearable systems capable of recording high-quality audio and video footage. Typically worn on the chest, shoulder, or waist, the cameras will document real-time interactions between traffic police and the public, helping to ensure greater accountability on both sides. The introduction of these body-worn cameras is intended to enhance the effectiveness of traffic police operations in the digital age.
While on duty, traffic police officers can wear the cameras on their chest, shoulder, or waist. The cameras will also be used to:
Provide real-time information to quick response teams.
Track officer locations during emergencies.
Record events at traffic junctions, highways, and other critical locations.
Collect video and audio evidence of traffic violations.
By adopting this cutting-edge equipment, the MBVV Police aims to strengthen trust and transparency between the police and the public.
The distribution ceremony was attended by Additional Police Commissioner Shri. Datta Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Shri. Suhas Bavche, senior traffic department officers, and members of the media.
