Mira-Bhayandar: In a proud achievement for the twin-city and the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate, two cyber cell officers-police inspector, Sujitkumar Gunjkar and police sub inspector-Prasad Shenolkar, bagged the Bal-Snehi Award for their excellence in capacity building towards spreading mass awareness on the importance of cyber security and safe online practices.
The awards in the form of mementos and appreciation certificates was handed over to the officials at a prize distribution ceremony which was held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Nariman Point, Mumbai on Monday (3, March) in the presence of dignitaries including- commission chairperson advocate Sushiben Shah, women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare and IPS officer Aswathi Dorje who was recently elevated to the post of additional director general (Prevention of Atrocities against Women and Children).

Apart from conducting 66 interactive sessions with students in 42 schools and colleges, Gunjkar and Shenolkar have been on the forefront to launch cyber awareness drives in housing societies, religious places, Navratri and Ganesh-Utsav mandals in the twin-cities.
Moreover, the reel contest organised by the cyber cell on popular social networking platform- Instagram had received an overwhelming response from citizens.
“It was a team effort and I give credit to our commissioner sir- Madhukar Pandey, other higher-ups for their support and our entire team of subordinates and citizens for stretching their individual capabilities in conducting the awareness campaigns,” said Gunjkar.

The Bal-Snehi award was instituted by the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in association with United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), last year. Officers were nominated from each of the police commissionerate and jurisdictions of various divisions across the state.
