Mira Bhayandar: The Kashigaon police have registered an offence against a 24-year-old youth for allegedly cutting a cake with a sword while celebrating his birthday at a public place in the Ghodbunder area of Kashimira.
About The Case
Although the celebration was held on 4, March, the offence was registered after the police received information about the incident a fortnight later on Wednesday (19, March). The accused who has been identified as Durvesh Mahadev Waghmare (24) works as a driver and lives in the Velkar Nagar area of Ghodbunder village.
While the 26-inch steel sword stamped with “Sirohi ki Prasidh Talwar, 30 Saal ki Guarantee” (Sirohi’s Famous Sword, 30 Years Guarantee) has been recovered by the Kashigaon police, the accused has been booked under the relevant sections of the Arms Act 1959 and Maharashtra Police Act 1951. However, the accused is yet to be arrested.
Notably, the crime detection unit attached to the Kashigaon police station had apprehended two Gujarat-based blacksmiths (metal workers) who were found to be in possession of 45 similar swords on 8, October, 2024. Investigations were on to ascertain whether the sword was purchased from the same blacksmiths or had been procured from some other source.
