Mira Bhayandar: MBVV nab member of interstate thieves from Gujarat

The gang had stolen electronic goods worth more than Rs 48 Lakh from a go down in Vasai.

Sleuths of Mira Bhayandar- Vasai Virar (MBVV) police apprehended a member of the interstate gang for his involvement in burglary at a godown in Vasai. The gang had broke into a electronic goods go down in Vasai and decamped goods worth Rs 48 lakhs.

According to the police, the break-in was reported from the godown located in the Bailpada area of Sativalli in Vasai on April 2 2021. The accused had broke open the shutter and looted electronic goods including air-conditioners and television sets worth Rs 48 lakhs.

Based on the complaint registered by the company, a case under sections 454, 457 and 380 of IPC was registered against the unidentified accused.

A crime detection unit attached to the Waliv police station led by Senior Police Inspector, Vilas Chougle and API, Gyanesh Fadtare under the supervision of DCP (Zone II) intensified vigilance and activated their core informer network.

Acting on a tip-off, the team apprehended one of the accused gang members identified as- Ashfaque Abdul Jabba alias Kaalia (30) from his hometown in Godhra, Gujarat. The police also recovered stolen gadgets worth more than Rs. 20 lakh and the truck which was used in the crime.

During interrogation the accused confessed to his involvement in two more thefts committed in the jurisdiction of the Waliv and Manor police stations, the official said. Officials from Waliv police station are conducting further investigations into the case.
